Letter from the Editors

Dear Reader,

Speculative fiction is such a wide category of fiction that we strive to include something for everybody in each issue. This quarter, we did better than usual, with a space-based vision of the future, two stories that feel like fables told anew, a true faery tale, and modern take on what ancient characters might still walk the fog-laden streets of London.

  • The Blessing of Song by Bill Davidson: Davidson's world building skills again grace our zine, this time with a take on humans who might've gone too native -- or might be the best humanity has left.
  • Riverbed by Rachel DiMaggio: When an old wrong is finally righted, is it revenge? Or justice?
  • When He Stopped Crying by Mary E. Lowd: What lengths will a young mother go to, in order to have a happy baby?
  • Guinevere by Amelia Dee Mueller: A modern telling of King Arthur characters, but not about the princess you think you know.
  • The Strongest Man in the Village by Lucy Stone: Dalisay follows an old village myth in hopes of making her love the strongest man in the village, but a tree-demon has other plans.
When you see Brian Quinn's art contribution Skadi we hope you'll think of "Riverbed". And don't forget our Editors' Corner where Lesley L. Smith shares the (almost) true story Flying Saucers - Myth - Truth - History -- how Boulder Colorado became one of the world's leading science towns.

We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we did!

Thanks for reading,
The Electric Spec Team
